Ashley Verkamp was born and raised in rural southern Indiana, where she spent most of her childhood roaming the meandering streams and woodland dotted hillsides surrounding her home. She graduated from Columbus College of Art and Design in 2004 with a major in illustration and a focus in Comparative Mythology. She possesses a keen interest in all things fascinating and unexplainable, leading her ever forward on her journey down the rabbit hole.
 
Ashley's artwork is rendered mostly from intuition, and she enjoys themes that allow her to weave several layers of story together through the use of archetypal symbolism. In addition, Ashley finds inspiration from her immense music collection and the unique and stunning brilliance she encounters while spending time in the woods behind her home.

Ashley still resides in rural southern Indiana, living in an eco-friendly straw bale house that she built with her own two hands. She also enjoys cooking, hiking, organic gardening, collecting rare heirloom seeds, meditating, listening to music, and reading. In addition, Ashley has studied art from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and Heron School of Art.

Ashley is the art director, graphic artist, and illustrator for Snail's Pace Paper, a division of the Abbey Press. In addition, she runs her own independent design studio and provides clients with top quality design and illustration services. She has been a published, working designer and illustrator for the last seven years, and she takes pride in having a great reputation when dealing with her clients.
